Jorge
Arroyo Esquivel
Jorge Arroyo Esquivel is a theoretical ecologist interested in using mathematical and computational models to increase ecological understanding and development of management strategies for ecological conservation. He is particularly interested in the implementation of machine learning algorithms to enhance modelling efforts in ecological systems, particularly in aquatic ecosystems.
Before joining the Department of Global Ecology at Carnegie, Jorge Arroyo Esquivel obtained his BSc in Mathematics from the University of Costa Rica, and his MSc and PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Davis. His previous research during his PhD focused on the study of the kelp forest ecosystem and what strategies can be implemented to restore degraded kelp forests and increase their resiliency to future environmental conditions.
